There are mainly three broad hijab styles known to the arab/asian world;
- The Saudi shayla
- The Indonesian
- The Egyptian
All other new,trendy styles are labelled under “hijaab” the new hijaab takes into consideration the fabric used, your face shape and sometimes can be used to tell which age bracket you fall into.
The Saudi shayla is usually done with a long rectangular scarf. It is wrapped around the head amd tucked or pinned in place at the shoulders. It is the common style in the gulf region
The indonesian, also referred to as al-amira is a two piece veil. it consists of a close fitting cap usually made from cotton or polyester and an accompanying tube like scarf.
The Egyptian has taken over the modern muslimah’s wardrobe. Its so modern and fashion forward as the scarf they use are very colorful and stylish and they use a lot of accessories. Its done like a wrap and sometimes with two or more veils.
